Mike's Movies

I have been experimenting with digital video and have produced a few short videos. What follows are some short excerpts. Please be aware that these movies may take more than 10 minutes to download with a 28.8 modem.

This is something new. Here is short clip from my latest video "Driving 55".

This is a frame from the video. Driving (1.3 Meg, 160 x 120 QuickTime movie)

Here is small clip from my video "Something in the Backyard?".

This is a frame from the video. Backyard (1.9 Meg, 160 x 120 QuickTime movie)

Here is small clip from my music video "Aqua Tune".

This is a frame from the video. Aqua Tune (1.7 Meg, 160 x 120 QuickTime movie)

This movie was generated frame by frame with renderings produced by the Mac 3D application "KPT Bryce". The original artwork took close to 200 hours of time to render with 40MHz 68040 machine (At the time this was made my computer was left on for weeks at a time). This movie is a smaller and shorter version of the original (640 by 480) one, which was made by manually moving the camera position through the scene and rendering each frame as a numbered PICT file. These PICT files were then imported into Adobe Premiere to produce the movie. Of course, now animation is built into the application with Bryce 3D.

This is a frame from the movie. Orb Movie (2.2 Meg 320 x 240 approx. 10 seconds Cinepak compressed QuickTime file with mono 11KHz sound)

To find out more about QuickTime, you can go to the QuickTime Home Page.

Here is QuickTime VR movie. It places you between the orbs for a full view of the scene, including the "star plane" which you see in the animation.

This is a frame from the movie. Orb QuickTime VR (158K 400 x 300 QuickTime VR file)

If you haven't played with QuickTime VR yet, you can find out about the QuickTime VR Player which is available from Apple.
